The Greater Grand Canyon Ecoregion encompasses a diverse, wild, and remote landscape and includes two national monuments, two national forests, numerous wilderness areas, and the crown jewel of our national park system – Grand Canyon National Park. It provides essential wildlife habitat for many species, including the desert tortoise, the endangered California condor, the northern goshawk, and the Kaibab squirrel, a species found nowhere else.

Development in Arizona and nearby states, coupled with the implications of climate disruption and intensive resource use, pose significant threats to this important landscape – uranium mining, development, off-road vehicle use, noisy air tours, old-growth logging, and water diversions will significantly harm this area if not addressed. The Grand Canyon Chapter's Campaign to Restore and Protect the Greater Grand Canyon Ecoregion works for healthier public lands in the region to ensure a resilient habitat for the diverse species that inhabit these lands, world-class recreational opportunities for visitors, and adequate resources for surrounding communities.

Sierra Club Foundation is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and engages in the exempt purposes set forth in Section 501(c)(3), including charitable, educational, scientific, and literary purposes. By law, Sierra Club Foundation retains control and discretion/variance power over all charitable funds received, including how they are disbursed within the purposes for which they were contributed; Sierra Club Foundation reserves the unilateral right to select those recipients or beneficiaries it believes will best accomplish those purposes. Accordingly, funds that may remain after a specific purpose has been achieved or is no longer necessary or feasible will be used to support programs that Sierra Club Foundation determines are reasonably similar to the intended purpose for which donated.
