The Montana Chapter works hard to protect the wildlife and wild places you love; helps to safeguard the clean air and water we all need to survive; and fights for climate health to ensure that Montana’s environment remains sustainable into the future. We work together in the streets, in the courtroom and in the legislature to make real change happen.

Together, we are working to:

  • fend off multiple threats to public lands, including working to preserve the Roadless Rule to protect 6 million acres of Forest Service lands and fight the proposed Sheep Creek rare earth minerals mine in the Bitterroot National Forest.
  • protect wildlife, which includes fighting to maintain endangered status for grizzly bears; fending off state bills that would permit cruel wolf hunting and trapping practices; and filing lawsuits to protect species like the greater sage grouse.
  • safeguard our climate by holding Northwestern Energy and the Public Service Commission accountable to Montanans; and training local citizens/youth to advocate for responsible green energy alternatives.
