The goal of Sierra Club's Outdoors for All Campaign is to expand and improve access and opportunities to the outdoors for all people to improve their lives while inspiring them to protect the environment. We’re working to connect children with nature in Los Angeles, bring back urban camping in Detroit, and connect unhoused veterans with opportunities to sail in Minneapolis. Our incredible network of staff and volunteer leaders are reaching tens of thousands of young people, veterans, and more with outdoor experiences every year. Still, far too many people lack access to nature near where they live and opportunities to experience America’s rich network of treasured public lands, waters, and shores.

That’s where the campaign’s policy work comes in. In addition to directly connecting people with nature, the campaign is at the forefront of a policy advocacy agenda that breaks down barriers to access for kids, veterans, and communities historically excluded from enjoying public lands. We’ve secured major victories like the passage of the federal EXPLORE Act, Every Kid Outdoors Act, and Accelerating Veterans Recovery Outdoors Act. We’ve passed legislation to expand public transportation to trailheads in states like Illinois and Nevada. In Michigan and California, we’ve helped secure major statewide initiatives for programs that provide field trips and free entry to state parks for kids.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

No. As a C4 non-profit organization, our donations allow us to lobby for environmental protections and to litigate against our biggest threats. However, this tax distinction — while giving us a broader range to enact change — also restricts gifts from being tax deductible.

How can I see how my donation is being used?

86¢ of every dollar donated goes straight to the implementation of conservation programs. This can include campaigns to protect and restore habitats, lobbying for environmental justice, and litigating against entities that are destroying our land, air, and water.

What is Sierra Club's mission?
